Goldie’s Fern is the largest fern of its genus in Ohio, measuring about 3-4′ tall in its upright, clumping growth habit. This fern has broad, backward-arching fronds of a deep green to golden-green color. It spreads slowly by its short, creeping rhizomes which can lead to magnificent stands of it in high-quality environments such as moist to wet, humus-rich woodland sites. This is truly a striking specimen plant and it pairs well with many woodland groundcovers, wildflowers and spring ephemerals.
