Description
Large rosy, purple flower clusters from late summer into fall. Seed heads may persist into winter. A more compact form of Joe Pye Weed works well in smaller gardens where the straight species may be too large. Besides being selected for size it has also been selected for more increased flower coverage. Host for 40 species of Lepidoptera. A magnet for pollinators but not deer. If not cut back in winter its stems, make a good nesting spot for native bees. Prefers average to wet soil in full sun tolerant of clay soil. Medicinal
