‘Hetz Midget’ is a cultivated variety of our native American Arborvitae (Thuja occidentalis.) It was selected for its dense, globe-shaped form that requires no pruning. The foliage is a lovely medium green color throughout the year. The growth rate is relatively slow, and this dwarf form is not likely to exceed 4′ tall and 5′ wide at maturity. This charming little cultivar is excellent for foundation plantings where it will add a tidy, modern look to the landscape. It is a good choice for low-maintenance plantings, and its evergreen nature will add winter interest to perennial and shrub borders.
