‘Techny’, synonymous with ‘Mission’, is a cultivated variety of our native American Arborvitae (Thuja occidentalis.) It was selected for its tightly compact form which is broader at the base and conical to pyramidal in growth habit. It can average about 12″ of growth per year, resulting in a 10′ tall specimen in 10 years time with a width of about 5-6′. This cultivar is excellent for year-round screening, hedges and foundation plantings. It is also a lovely evergreen specimen that does not go bronzy during the winter months, maintaining its rich, dark green foliage.
