| Our Hop Trees (Ptelea trifoliata) are now available and look amazing. Best of all, however, they are loaded with Giant Swallowtail (Papilio cresphontes) caterpillars! We would love for all of these trees and caterpillars to find new homes. Due to the severe fragmentation of habitat caused by developing and replacing native plants with non-natives, local butterfly populations can become in-bred. By taking home caterpillars with your Hop Tree purchases, you help to diversify the genetics of the Giant Swallowtails in your local ecosystem, while providing shelter and food for more generations to come. |
