| Around this time every year, the mums arrive. You see them everywhere, from hardware stores to grocery stores. They do provide color, sure. However, they don’t do much more than that. Mums rarely survive our Ohio winters. When they do, they won’t return to the perfect little orbs that were purchased in the fall. They also don’t do much for our wildlife. Our native butterflies and moths can’t eat the foliage, the sterile flowers don’t produce nectar or pollen. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if there were a native option that bloomed in the fall?
